MAKING YOUNG PEOPLE STAND ON THEIR FEET
Children of slums and streets are the most vulnerable amongst the poorest of poor children. While boys in the same environment are often led astray by the allure of anti social earnings, the girls wind up being the prey of antisocials. Their need for a protected and secure environment is imperative.
From one shack with a broken tiled roof and rammed earth floor, to the present building, the Primary School was the first institution created by CSP in 1972 from scratch – a resource for the community, located in the community. Today it is a Government-aided school with teachers appointed by the Government and CSP. It is located in a slum at Dover Terrace, in South Kolkata.
Towards developing in children a well rounded personality, CSP runs the sports programme with the collaboration of Rabindra Sarobar Athletics Club. Since the introduction of a regular sports and athletics programme, many children across all programmes have had an opportunity to access and utilize a sports facility with the benefit of free open spaces away from the claustrophobic overcrowding of their slum existence also Girls Football Team.
